PLAY PROCESS

Here's what PUSH PLAY looks like in the classroom.

ESTABLISH
(HIGHLIGHTING THE STANDARD)

In an effort to ensure academic success, we begin with alignment. All of our products align with Georgia's Reading Foundation (RF) standards. The educator will begin by establishing the specific standard covered during ELA instruction.

ENGAGE AND EXTEND
(RIGOROUS INSTRUCTION)

Effective educators will always be a key component to academic success. Their role in the classroom is an important part of the process because it sets the stage for learning and introduces content in ways that support student interests and understanding. After establishing the standard, the teacher will engage the students and extend the lesson by providing rigorous and intentional instruction.

EXPLORE
(PUSH PLAY)

During an ELA block, after whole group learning, the students divide into differentiated reading groups and work small/focused centers. Traditionally, the centers consists of Guided Reading (w/teacher), Independent Reading, Technology, and Response to Reading. Push Play will take the place of one of the centers. The students are encouraged to explore and use the materials inside of the the P.P. boxes to create freely chosen games, activities, or play on their own terms. By linking the standard based manipulatives, instruction, and imagination, Push Play is creating a space where students can take ownership of their learning and retain information with the absence of stress.
